After becoming the first Bollywood celebrity to have a milkshake named after her at the hotspot ‘Millions of Milkshakes’ in Hollywood city, Mallika Sherawat has now become the latest recipient of the prestigious “Arts Award” in New York.

The sexy actress was honoured recently for her unparalleled contributions to and influence with the Indian diaspora.

The event was organised by Honorable Jerramiah Healy, the Mayor of Jersey City and the New Jersey co-chair of President Barack Obama's primary campaign to honor the Indian community and its contributions to the United States.

Out of America's 100 largest cities, Jersey City has one of the largest percentages of South Asians. Area politicians, business persons, and members of the press attended the event.

As a congressional honoree, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone (father of the India Caucus in the U.S. Congress), among others, also graced the event with his presence. The host of the event was JCHA Commissioner Raj Mukherji (the youngest commissioner in city history to serve the Housing Authority).
